In an effort to stem out pilferage, Indian Oil Corporation has started the process to automate the entire fuel filling process at fuel pumps across the country. The company owns 19,000 retail outlets across the country. In the first phase, 4,500 outlets which sells over 200 kilolitres per month would be automated. Of which, 1,600 outlets have already been completely automated. Work on the rest is currently on. In the second phase, retail outlets which sell 100 kilolitres of fuel a month would be automated, which ultimately will help in achieving better control of delivery, he said.
